Feasibility Study
Based on:
A feasibility study is carried out to analyze all possible solution candidates that fit the application based on a preliminary analytical/FEM modeling and sizing of the system main components.
Concept selection and optimization
The most promising candidates from the feasibility study are sized running multi-physics optimizations. These typically includes 2D and 3D thermal, mechanical and electromagnetic analysis. The results of each solution is compared in terms of cost, performance and manufacturability. The best concept design moves to the next design phase. Our design processes are based on internally developed analytical tools, open source FEM tools combined with the use commercial software.
Detailed design for manufacturing
The detailed design process completes the development with the following:
Production process and industrialization
The level of automation depends on the expected production volumes. Finding a cost efficient solution is extremely important especially for high volume productions. We can help you select the most appropriate production process and and analyze all the main manufacturing aspects (examples are: stacking method, mounting process, magnetization process, stamping and scrap optimization).
In the preliminary phase of a project it is fundamental to evaluate all the possible configuration of the system, for each of the promising configurations do a preliminary electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical design to find the best tradeoff mainly between power density, cost, efficiency and noise. This allows a proper comparison among the possible configurations.
The plots show some of the most important tradeoffs that are typical of electric machines and actuators.
