System modeling and analysis
Depending on the phenomena of interest modeling of electro-mechanical systems can be done at different levels of detail. A proper modeling allows to make proper decisions early on in the design process. We offer 2D and 3D multi-physics FEM modeling covering electromagnetical, structural and thermal aspects as well as power electronic converter, control and complete system modelling.
Control strategy and implementation
The modulation technique and control strategy affect directly the system performance, efficiency and NVH. Choosing the proper control strategy and implementing it successfully is as important as proper hardware design. To do so in depth knowledge of the system to be controlled and of the control techniques is needed.
Detailed performance mapping
Performance mapping (FEM or analytical) is the conventional method to evaluate how the system performs in the whole operating region. This allows to create lower order models that take into account all the relevant loss contributions (efficiency mapping), saturation (flux mapping), torque/thrust ripple and power factor to perform complete system simulations.
NVH analysis and optimization
We always pay particular attention to NVH aspects, and design for low torque/thrust ripple and tooth force pulsation. Typically a study of the most appropriate technique to reduce the unwanted force/torque harmonic is carried out (such as rotor outer shaping, magnet shaping, rotor notching, skewing, etc..) to provide a silent and smooth force/torque output.
Regulatory compliance
Complying with industrial international and national standards is often required by OEMs. We can support you in finding the relevant standards, interpret them for your application and put in place the necessary adjustment to comply.
